Spinathon at Fitness First

Cheltenham's Fitness First Personal Trainer Adam - just after midday Friday!Cheltenham's Fitness First Personal Trainer Kyle - just after midday Friday!Adventurer Bear Grylls cheered on two Fitness First Personal Trainers as they took on a Sponsored Spin in their gym for the British Heart Foundation on Friday 17th July.

Despite no training and recovering from a recent shoulder operation, Kyle Palm, 25 cycled for 11.5 hours solid.  If that wasn’t impressive enough, Adam Gellatly, 21, cycled 520 miles non-stop in 20 hours.

Rations on hand included energy bars from sponsor Trek Bars, and energy drinks for sponsor Epic Cycles.  And not forgetting Adam’s home-made banana bread!

When Bear Grylls found out about the event, he got in touch straight away as his father died from heart disease.  He said: “Sorry I can’t be with you but Good Luck!  …this is going to be a mission!  God speed and thanks to everyone for supporting these guys in this challenge.  We all gotta look after our hearts and eating
healthy and training well is the magic key.”

Kyle commented  “Having only recently had shoulder surgery, I hadn't been able to train for this but I just went for it – next time I'm aiming to cycle for 24 hours.”

While Adam commented: “I’m a keen road cyclist and hope to make the British Cycling team.  I’ve already done something similar but only for 8 hours, so this was my biggest challenge yet.”

Well done to the pair who both raised nearly £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation.
